Living at Sholden Fields in Deal was such a pleasurable experience for Andrew and Michelle Bull, they decided to upgrade to a larger home at the same popular Ward Homes development.
Train driver Andrew originally bought a two bedroom home at the site, soon after it opened - and now he's enjoying settling into a larger house type with four bedrooms to spread out in.
“I moved to Sholden Fields during the development’s first year, with assistance from the Help to Buy scheme,” said Andrew (35). “It was a great way to own a home here. I never would have been able to save enough for a deposit without it.”
The scheme is available on all new-build homes up to £600,000 in England. Buyers can become owners with just a five percent deposit of the property value of their new home. Many lenders are able to offer a loan-to-value mortgage because the UK Government provides a guarantee of up to 20 percent.
“We absolutely love living here,” added Andrew.“Sholden Fields is within easy reach of local amenities but it’s also close to open countryside. The development itself is beautifully landscaped, and the homes are built to a very high standard.
“I’ve owned a Victorian property in the past, and I can’t emphasise enough how much more energy-efficient new-build homes are. They also require very little maintenance, which is great.”
“It just made perfect sense,” said Andrew. “And we were able to use Help to Buy once again - which was fantastic. We wanted somewhere larger - but didn’t want to leave the wonderful community atmosphere we’ve been enjoying here at Sholden Fields.
“Our two bedroom property sold very quickly - a great sign of this development’s popularity among buyers in the area. I’m not at all surprised though. It’s a fantastic location and great for commuting too. We’re incredibly happy here.”
